Overview

Dating all the fashion back to 1830, Innis Bheatha (meaning meadow of the birches) has been extended from the original Highland cottage to offering spacious accommodation with room to spread out into, every bit well as plenty of original grapheme and charm.

There is a cosy winter sitting room with an open fire and when the house was extended a second larger summer sitting room was created with picture windows, a charming window seat and a natural rock fireplace that surrounds the wood-burning stove.

The kitchen is farmhouse in style with a colourful 2 oven Aga at its eye and the choice of an electric hob and oven if you prefer. There is a handy breakfasting expanse in the kitchen in addition to the separate formal dining room and also on this level is a bathroom and shower room.

Upstairs are a double bedroom, a twin room and a unmarried bedroom that all have great views out over the garden. On the mezzanine level up a dissever staircase is the roomy and vivid master suite that has a king-size bed, en suite bathroom and a lovely Juliet balcony to enjoy the views from.

The house stands within three acres of pretty garden grounds with lots of mature plants and trees and a pond, so care should be taken specially with children.

Map & Local

A pretty woodland path from the garden leads right downward to the stony shore of Loch Shieldaig where moorings are bachelor and further along the shoreline at that place are many inlets sheltering picturesque sandy beaches.

In that location is good fishing nearby and hill walkers can test themselves on the mountainous landscape of Torridon (29 miles). The Torridon Countryside Centre has a 3D model showing the topography of the area so information technology is a good place to visit prior to planning further exploration of the mountains.

In walking distance at Badachro (1.5 miles) in that location is an excellent pub that serves succulent meals featuring lots of fresh local seafood. Farther on at Cerise Point there are two spectacular sandy beaches that just beg to be explored.

Head north up the declension to Gairloch (v miles) for supermarket shopping, watching the boats bobbing out in the bay, or taking to the water yourself on a boat trip out to encounter some of the local wildlife including dolphins, seals and even the occasional whale.

The Gairloch Heritage Museum is also interesting to wander around with its exhibits on the village's history and a fascinating replica of a 1940s shop.

The cottage is in a very peaceful location with good sized garden and wooded grounds. The living infinite is very adept, the kitchen well equipped and the bed we used was very comfy. On our arrival it felt like the property had been very thoroughly cleaned. The bathrooms are not and so great. The only shower is by the back door, not close to whatsoever of the bedrooms and accessed through the dining room, kitchen and hall. Neither of the baths in the other two bathrooms have shower attachments so it is not possible to wash your pilus other than in the 1 shower - fine with two people only presumably non then nifty if the cottage has 7 people in information technology.
